Connection Church was planted in 2016 on farmland on St. Mary's Road in Libertyville, IL. The property, which included two houses and a red barn in need of repair, was envisioned by Pastor Lamarr Lark as an excellent site for worship services. He believed that once the horse stalls were cleaned and their scents removed, this would become a vibrant Christian community centered on Bible teachings.
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. This belief in the Bible teachings gives it supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct within our Christian community and guides our worship services.
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons. These persons are equal in every divine perfection and execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption. This understanding aligns with the Bible teachings that are central to our Christian community and is reflected in our worship services.
We believe in God, the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. This aligns with core Bible teachings that emphasize His merciful concern in the affairs of each individual. We believe that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ, fostering a strong Christian community that supports one another through worship services.
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. Our faith is grounded in His virgin birth, sinless life, and the miracles and teachings found in the Bible. We are part of a vibrant Christian community that celebrates His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, and His perpetual intercession for His people. We also look forward to His personal visible return to earth as we gather in our worship services.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. Our understanding of these truths is rooted in Bible teachings, as we embrace the Christian community that nurtures faith. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, serving as an abiding helper, teacher, and guide, especially during our worship services.
We believe that all people are sinners by nature and by choice, as supported by Bible teachings, and are, therefore, under condemnation. In the Christian community, we hold that those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit, which is a central theme in our worship services.
We believe that the Bible teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ have committed two ordinances to the local church: Baptism and The Lord’s Supper. Within our Christian community, we affirm that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water into the name of the triune God.
We also believe that The Lord’s Supper was instituted by Christ for the commemoration of His death, and it plays a vital role in our worship services.
These two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. This Christian community is essential for nurturing faith and sharing Bible teachings.
We also believe in the local church, which consists of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible confession of faith, and associated for worship services, work, and fellowship.
Furthermore, we believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of giving the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world.
We believe that Christians should live for the glory of God and the well-being of others, as emphasized in the Bible teachings. Their conduct should be blameless before the world, reflecting the values of the Christian community. They should be faithful stewards of their possessions and actively participate in worship services, seeking to realize for themselves and others the full stature of maturity in Christ.
We believe that Christian marriage, as outlined in the Bible teachings, is a sacred institution ordained by God for the well-being of mankind and the propagation of the human race. It represents the spiritual and physical union of one man and one woman, as embraced by the Christian community during worship services.
We believe that every human being has direct relations with God and is responsible to God alone in all matters of faith, as emphasized in Bible teachings; that each church is independent and must be free from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority; and that therefore, Church and State must be kept separate as having different functions, each fulfilling its duties free from dictation or patronage of the other. This understanding fosters a strong Christian community and enhances our worship services.
We believe that the local church can best promote the cause of Jesus Christ by cooperating with one another within a Christian community in an association of churches. Such an organization, whether it is Converge Worldwide (Baptist General Conference) or one of its regional districts (Converge MidAmerica), exists and functions by the will of the churches and is committed to upholding Bible teachings. Cooperation in this association is voluntary and may be terminated at any time. Churches may likewise choose to cooperate with interdenominational fellowships on a voluntary basis, enhancing their worship services and collective mission.

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. This belief in the Bible teachings gives it supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct within our Christian community and guides our worship services.
