What we believe shapes how we live. These biblical convictions guide our worship, our relationships, our conduct, and our mission.
The Word of God
We believe the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
The Bible has supreme authority in matters of faith and conduct.
The Trinity
We believe there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
They are equal in every divine perfection and carry out distinct but harmonious roles in creation, providence, and redemption.
God the Father
We believe in God the Father, an infinite and personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love.
He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of each person, hears and answers prayer, and saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit.
We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings; His substitutionary atoning death; His bodily resurrection; His ascension into heaven; and His continuing intercession for His people.
We believe He will personally and visibly return to earth.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ.
We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ as an abiding helper, teacher, and guide.
Regeneration
We believe all people are sinners by nature and by choice and are therefore under condemnation.
We believe those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit.
The Ordinances
We believe Jesus Christ committed two ordinances to the local church: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
We believe Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the triune God.
We believe the Lord’s Supper was instituted by Christ to commemorate His death.
These ordinances are to be observed until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Church
We believe in the universal Church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members.
We also believe in the local church, consisting of believers in Jesus Christ who have been baptized upon a credible confession of faith and who gather for worship, work, and fellowship.
We believe God has entrusted the local church with the primary task of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with a lost world.
Christian Conduct
We believe Christians should live for the glory of God and the well-being of others.
Our conduct should reflect our faith. We are called to be faithful stewards of what God has entrusted to us and to seek spiritual maturity in Christ for ourselves and others.
Christian Marriage
We believe Christian marriage is a sacred institution ordained by God and is the spiritual and physical union of one man and one woman.
Religious Liberty
We believe every person has direct relationship with God and is responsible to God in matters of faith.
We believe each local church is independent and should be free from interference by ecclesiastical or political authority.
We believe Church and State have distinct functions and should remain separate, each fulfilling its responsibilities without control or patronage of the other.
Church Cooperation
We believe local churches can advance the cause of Jesus Christ by voluntarily cooperating with one another.
Connection Church is affiliated with Converge MidAmerica, part of Converge Worldwide, formerly the Baptist General Conference.
Such cooperation is voluntary. Local churches may also cooperate with interdenominational fellowships in ways consistent with their biblical convictions and mission.
The Last Things
We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom.
We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal felicity of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked.
Knowing what Christians believe is not the same as knowing Jesus Christ.
The Bible teaches that all of us have sinned and need a Savior. God loves us and sent His Son, Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose again.
Through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, we receive forgiveness, new life, and a restored relationship with God.
Following Jesus does not begin with having your life perfectly together.
It begins by responding to Him in faith.
